Same-Day Wasp Nest Treatment in Nottingham – What to Expect
Tenants, agents and managers each face the same question when wasps move in: who books, who agrees and who pays, so here is a clear way through.
When it is not your building
A wasp nest in a house you own is simple: you ring, you agree the price, you wait. When you rent the property, manage it for someone else or share a block with others, extra questions arise. Nottingham, as a city in the East Midlands, has plenty of rented homes and shared buildings, so these questions come up often.
We do not give legal advice, and what you are responsible for depends on your tenancy agreement, lease or management contract. What we can do is explain how a same-day visit works, so you can check with the right person quickly.
Same-day service is offered, and calling early gives the best chance of a visit the same day, which is a good reason to sort out permission without delay.
Even if the nest is not strictly your responsibility, your household is the one living next to it, so a decision on how to proceed is worth reaching as soon as possible.
Checking who should arrange it
Before booking, spend a few minutes establishing who is responsible.
- Look at your tenancy agreement or lease for anything about pests or outdoor areas.
- Ask your landlord, agent or managing company directly, and ask them to put the reply in writing.
- If the nest is in a shared area, such as a communal garden, roof or bin store, check with the other residents or the manager.
- If your landlord or agent says they will arrange it, ask when, so you know how to protect your household in the meantime.
If you decide to book yourself, keep a record of what was agreed and what you paid, in case you need to discuss it later.
Where an agent is involved, a short email setting out what you have seen, where it is, and who is at risk is often the quickest way to move things on. Attach a photograph taken from a safe distance if you can.
If the answer will take a few days, make the household safe in the interim by keeping away from the nest and the affected door or window.
What to tell us when you ring
Explain your position plainly: whether you are the tenant, the landlord, an agent or a manager, and who will be at the address when the technician comes. If the person booking is not at the property, make sure someone there knows to expect a visit and can show the technician the nest.
Describe where the wasps are going in and out, how high that is and how to reach it. For a flat, say which floor, whether there is a balcony, and whether the area is shared.
The price is confirmed on the phone before the technician visits: a fixed £95 per nest and £35 for each additional nest on the same property, with no call-out charge. Nothing begins without agreement, which suits a situation where several people may need to approve.
Be clear about payment too. If you are the one paying, say so. If the invoice needs to go elsewhere, mention that on the call so that it can be dealt with properly. It also helps to say who is responsible for letting the technician in, particularly for upper-floor flats where the nest is reached from a shared stairwell or roof.
Shared walls, balconies and gardens
In flats and terraces, a nest can sit across boundaries. The entrance might be on your wall while the cavity runs along the neighbour’s. The technician will look at what is accessible and will explain what can be done from your side.
If a neighbour’s balcony or garden is involved, tell them what is happening. It is far better for them to hear it from you than to be surprised by a technician or a stream of wasps.
Keep windows closed on the nest side, bring washing in from balconies near the nest and keep children and pets away. For any sting, wash the spot, remove the sting if visible and use a cold pack; call 999 for swelling of the face, lips or throat, wheezing or difficulty breathing, dizziness or a widespread rash.
In terraced streets with shared eaves, the nest might serve the whole row. Keep an eye on the neighbouring houses too, and let those neighbours know, in case they see wasps going into their own roof space.
Booking and the visit
To book, ring 0116 214 9259, open seven days a week, or use the online booking form on the contact page. The technician is trained and the work is fully insured, and domestic and commercial work are both covered.
If the property is a business or let to a business, say so. Domestic and commercial customers are treated alike when it comes to the fixed price.
After treatment, tell your landlord, agent or neighbours what has been done and when. If wasps return in numbers, or another nest appears, ring again with the details; a second nest on the same property is £35 extra.
Wasps are active from late April, with the colony peaking in August, so a clear arrangement with your landlord or agent about how pest problems are handled is worth having in place before the summer, to avoid delays when a nest does appear.
If you have any doubts about permission, getting a short message from the owner or agent before the technician arrives avoids an awkward conversation at the door. It takes a few minutes and keeps the visit smooth.
You will not be charged anything other than the agreed price, and the technician will confirm what has been done before they leave.
